Deschutes Democrats endorse Measures 66 and 67.

Resolution of the Democratic Party of Deschutes County Supporting the Yes Vote on Measures 66 and 67

Whereas the State of Oregon faces significant budget shortfalls to fund essential State services in health care, education and public safety;
Whereas the Oregon State Legislature enacted legislation to cover the budget shortfall and to protect the provision of essential services through a package of tax reforms on corporations and high income households;
Whereas two ballot measures now before the electorate in a special election on January 26, 2010 will preserve the efforts of our elected officials to deal with the cyclical funding shortfalls in health, education and critical public services;
Now, therefore, the Democratic Party of Deschutes County does emphatically and unanimously support and endorse a Yes Vote on Ballot Measure 66 and a Yes Vote on Ballot Measure 67 and
Furthermore, the Democratic Party of Deschutes County pledges to support the work of DefendOregon.org and will actively engage in a grassroots effort of voter education and voter turnout to support a Yes Vote in the Special Election on January 26, 2010.
